An Experience of tranquility, deep in the woods.

When one thinks of Japan, one thinks of the busy bustling streets or the tall skyscrapers. But far away in the woods, in ways one can least imagine is a little tranquil cabin in the woods. Hidden in the forest amongst the mountains of rural Japan is this spectacular off-grid cabin.

Drawing inspiration from a blend of traditional Japanese and European architecture, the home is simple, yet functional and serves as the perfect escape from the modern world. The brains behind this cozy house in the woods is Deigo-san, an engineer in his late twenties, who began building the house as an experiment to elude the fast life of the city. Soon, the house became his family’s favorite spot, soon moving into the wood cabin.

Soon, the house became his family’s favorite spot, soon moving into the wood cabin.Even during the chilly cold weather of the Japanese mountains, the cabin is cozy and warm, heated by a small fireplace in the corner. The cabin has a kitchen, a study room facing a majestic view of the mountain, a spacious dining room and a comfy bed on the first floor. Powered by a series of solar panels, the power generated is enough to run the lights, refrigerator and basic kitchen appliances. Fresh, sweet water comes from the stream allowing for basic vegetable farming.

Deigo-san has made a number of artistic designs and patterns on the walls and window panes depicting the majesty of the snow-capped mountain ranges. An engineer, earlier working in Finland, Deigo-san was inspired by the contemporary European architectural style which lends a strong European flavor to the interiors of the cabin with more Japanese influence on the outer structure of the cabin.
According to Deigo-san, the cabin took him about $18,000 to construct which is roughly about 2 million yuan. Speaking on his experience in the cabin, Deigo-san signs off by talking about how his cabin life has made his mind calmer and bettered his relationship with his family.
